Moneydance will remember the new location of your file and open it automatically next time you launch Moneydance 2015.

If you copy the file, you'll have two seperate copies of your data set. You only want one copy of this folder on your system, so it is important to move the file to the new location.

Mac OS X Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, Yosemite, El Capitan and Sierra. The default location for your data file(s) varies depending on your operating system, and is listed below. If you have not manually moved your data file to a different location, your files can be accessed by navigating within Moneydance to Help -> Show Documents Folder. Moneydance will store any new data files you create in the same, default location.

In order to export information from Moneydance go to File → Export. Navigate to and select the file, then click "OK". To open this “.moneydancearchive” file, go to File -> Restore from Backup. When the export is complete Moneydance will notify you that your data was exported successfully. Select the appropriate name and location for your backup file, and wait while Moneydance exports your data as a “.moneydancearchive” file. To export a backup go to File → Export Backup.

The exported file will have the file extension “.moneydancearchive” and is a compressed file.įor data fidelity reasons exported backup files do not contain data related to syncing with mobile devices (such as iPhones, Android devices, etc). Moneydance offers the ability to manually export a backup to a location of your choosing (external hard drive, thumb drive, etc).
